About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Club Operations team as a Capital Projects Director. In this role you will be responsible for leading in the development and delivery of capital and large revenue projects from establishing the initial brief through the construction phase, to practical completion.

What will you be doing?

You will develop a strategic approach to capital works, developing, executing and maintaining a capital works project plan across the sites in conjunction with key stakeholders across the Club.  Continually review to ensure plan remains consistent with the strategic aims and objectives of the business and of any significant developments in the sector.

You will be project managing major and minor capital projects across the Club ensuring that the needs and expectations of all stakeholders are met and the projects are delivered safely, achieving quality, time and cost requirements, to statutory legislation and LFC standards. Your role will also include:

  • Perform all project management duties, ensuring briefs are agreed, contracts in place and works managed to budget and in line with agreed health, safety and quality standards
  • Manage the lifecycle of a project through feasibility, approval, design, construction, completion commissioning, handover and post project review
  • Ensure robust financial management and commercial awareness
  • Identify and manage risks within the project lifecycle including preparation and upkeep of risk registers and contingency logs
  • Liaise with the procurement team on contract procurement, including contractor selection, tendering procedure, and compliance with Club policies
  • Manage the appointed contracts - ensuring quality of build to cost and time, liaising with H&S team to ensure H&S compliance
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Manage and support internal teams, Contractors and internal project team members to deliver the project goals
  • Work with Business Planning to ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with all stakeholders including third parties/vendors
  • Drive excellent performance in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality to ensure the highest standards are put at the forefront of all projects
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Manage detailed project plans to track progress
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs

Who are we looking for?

To be successful you will have a proven track record in developing a capital projects investment and delivery strategy, with evidence to support the successful establishment, communication and implementation of such a strategy.

You will also have demonstrable experience managing commercial construction projects for a varied portfolio of work. You will have experience in selection and appointment of both consultants and contractors and be confident in stakeholder engagement and management. You’ll have a working knowledge of CDM & Industry Quality requirements along with Project management, Commissioning, experience of managing budgets for individual building projects and reporting on project progress against budget and programme will be required to deliver value for money outcomes. We are a diverse business, so working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including consultants and contractors, will be key to ensure any capital works meet objectives, within the budget and timescales set for the relevant project.

You will have experience in leading and developing a team, and will be a professional, confident, credible, enthusiastic team player with a flexible, "can do" attitude, who has a willingness to challenge decisions and be challenged in turn, as well as the ability to provide innovative solutions and highlight potential issues before they emerge.

Ideally you will be a member of a professional Project Management body and educated to degree level in a construction or project management related discipline or can demonstrate the required level of experience with an equivalent qualification. Previous experience in a Football / sports / stadium environment would be preferable.
