About the role

We are looking for an experienced individual to join Liverpool FC’s Commercial Development Team. The Senior Manager, Commercial Development plays a critical role in managing a variety of commercial projects across the club, from developing department strategies through to supporting partnership conversations that have a high degree of complexity and require coordination across multiple business functions.

The remit of this role is wide-ranging and provides an excellent opportunity to work across the full breadth of the club’s commercial operations.

What will you be doing?

Support the development and implementation of the club’s commercial strategy

  • Work alongside the club’s senior strategy and commercial leadership to develop, implement and continuously refine the club’s commercial growth plan.
  • Support strategy development for individual business areas ensuring alignment with the overarching commercial strategy.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in critical areas for commercial growth (e.g. women’s football, digital infrastructure etc…)

Lead strategic and tactical projects for the Partnerships business

  • Take ownership for elements of the Partnerships business strategy and work closely with stakeholders across the team do embed the strategy into day-to-day operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Partnerships department and the wider club, ensuring we operate in a collaborative, coordinated manner.
  • Develop subject matter expertise on critical areas for commercial growth and serve as the team’s first point of contact for all conversations relating to this area. 
  • Work closely with senior members of the Partnerships Sales and Delivery teams to assist in the management of complex / high value Partner and prospect conversations. 

Manage tactical projects that support commercial growth

  • Identify revenue generation opportunities that lie outside of the existing commercial business model.
  • Support / lead tactical revenue generating projects from planning through to execution.
  • Lead the process to embed successful concepts into day-to-day operations.

 Provide ad hoc support to the club’s senior leadership

  • Provide ad hoc support and expertise to the club’s senior leadership.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience working in strategy, commercial / business development or consulting roles. Experience within the sports industry is not essential, but expertise in wider media & entertainment space would certainly be beneficial. You will be emotionally intelligent and able to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of stakeholders. You will have a high degree of data-literacy with demonstrable aptitude utilising data to inform decision-making. With your excellent analytical skills, you can simplify complex problems.  You will have outstanding communication skills and be a skilled and natural storyteller.
