We are looking for an UEFA A License (or equivalent) coach to join our First Team as a Set Piece Coach. In this role, you will be a tactical specialist responsible for maximising the team's performance in all set-piece situations. This involves thorough analysis, meticulous planning, and the ability to expertly coach both offensive and defensive set-piece strategies.

What will you be doing?

  • Complete a thorough analysis of upcoming opponents' set-piece tendencies, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
  • Design defensive strategies to counter the opposition's set-piece threats.
  • Coach players on defensive positioning, marking assignments, and tactical approaches to defending set-pieces.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of high-performing set-piece routines across the Premier League and international competitions.
  • Collate and maintain a diverse database of innovative set-piece plays tailored to the team's player strengths.
  • Design and lead coaching sessions to execute these set-piece strategies effectively.
  • Collaborate with the head coach to structure the training week, allocating ample practice time to refine set-piece strategies against the upcoming opponent.
  • Deliver high-intensity, engaging set-piece coaching sessions that emphasise detail and clarity.
  • Assume a leadership role on match days, communicating pre-game strategy, analysing the opponent's defensive set pieces in real-time, and suggesting adjustments to maximise scoring opportunities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of the team's own set-piece statistics and performance.
  • Keep up to date on the latest set-piece trends and innovations across top leagues.
  • Utilise video analysis software and data to evaluate set-piece effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Analyse set-piece performance data and provide key metrics to the Sporting Director for use in board and strategy meetings.
  • Work with individual players to improve specific set-piece skills (heading, shooting, delivery, etc.).
  • Identify and mentor players possessing strong set-piece abilities.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will hold UEFA A License (or equivalent) and have a proven track record of success in set-piece design within elite football in a first team environment. You will have substantial knowledge of the technical and tactical understanding of football with an up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends across the Premier League and Europe. With your high level of computer competency, you will be proficient in the use of various analysis software & programmes including Hudl Studio and Wyscout.

You can build exceptional, collaborative relationships and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to work flexibly across the week including weekends and evenings.

Why should you apply?

To reward your hard work and commitment we offer a competitive salary, 25 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays and the option to purchase up to an additional 5 days) and a contributory pension scheme.

You will have access to our benefits kit bag where you can get high street discounts, and a selection of benefit schemes you can join. There are opportunities to get involved with volunteering through our LFC Foundation to give back to the local community.
