About the role

Junior Data Analyst

We are looking for an individual with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills to join our team as a Junior Data Analyst. As a Junior Data Analyst, you will be one of the contacts for data analysis projects and ad-hoc requests for all business areas from coaching and analysis, scouting to medical and sports science.

Role Overview:

What will you be doing?

  • Gathering project requirements.
  • Querying data. 
  • Performing data wrangling and data analysis under the direction of senior Research team members.
  • Presenting results in an effective manner.
  • Building dashboards and tools that are used at the Academy and at the AXA Training Ground.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, physics, statistics, or other STEM subject.
  • Experience: Previous work in analytics in a professional or academic setting. Preference for experience within a sporting context. 

 

Technical Skills:

  • Extraction: Experience with relational databases and ability to write queries in SQL to pull data.
  • Analysis: Ability to perform basic data analysis and munging in Python/R, or other programming languages.
  • Visualisation: Ability to visualise results with programmatic visualisation libraries.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Project Management: Ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Collegiality: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues of various skill sets to solve problems and build maintainable solutions.
  • Self-learning: Ability to up-skill flexibly in response to new problem spaces and technical challenges.
  • Scientific Mindset: Scientific approach to problem solving with an ability to quantify confidence in the results with an understanding of the statistical and systematic uncertainties inherent in any model.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate results effectively and efficiently in a time-sensitive environment with a diverse array of stakeholders.

 

Who are we looking for?

To be successful, you will have a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics or   other STEM subject and will be able to demonstrate good data analysis skills with relevant work experience in modelling, analysis or statistics. Ideally, you will have knowledge of a programming language with experience of working with an SQL database, R / Python, Excel.

 

You will have excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills. With excellent communication skills, you can work with colleagues in a conscientious and inclusive way. 

 

Remuneration and Benefits

This is a full time, permanent role working 35 hours per week.  This is a remote or hybrid role with the possibility to work in a hybrid way from the AXA Training Centre and at our Academy in Kirkby.
